The Cassette Sole

Designed for Brett Johnson.
Built for Every Step.

Developed exclusively for Brett Johnson, the new "cassette" sole reinterprets contemporary elegance through technical innovation. Distinctive of quiet luxury and designed to become a timeless, cross-seasonal icon, it combines design and performance in equal measure.

Crafted from thermoplastic polyurethane, it is prized for its lightweight and highly flexible structure — guaranteeing maximum comfort, cushioning, and stability, and ensuring a smooth, natural stride with reduced physical impact.

Inside, the sole incorporates TecneGreen technology: a polyurethane foam blend containing a high percentage of recycled textiles sourced from scraps from Brett Johnson's ready-to-wear collections — transforming heritage waste into a functional, circular element.

Aesthetic & Craft

The outsole features an all-over embossed logo, while the heel showcases the debossed B logo — subtly engraved for a refined and tactile effect. Along the sides, a discreet and elegant texture completes the design, balancing brand identity with clean, understated sophistication.

The Result

"A sole that seamlessly combines performance, aesthetics, and sustainability — fully aligned with a contemporary, essential, and versatile vision of luxury."

Our Approach — Brett Johnson

Our Approach

Against Disposability

Brett Johnson has always operated outside the cycle of seasonal excess. Our garments are designed and constructed to be worn for decades — not discarded after a few months. That philosophy extends beyond the fabric to every component of every piece we make.

In partnership with TecneGreen, we have integrated recycled textile waste directly into the construction of our footwear — transforming what would otherwise end up in landfill into the foundation of something built to endure.

"If I need to continually generate new waste to produce new product, I have an inefficient and unsustainable process. That is not craftsmanship — it is contradiction."

Brett Johnson — Design Philosophy

TecneGreen Technology

No Compromise. No Greenwash.

Most sustainable alternatives in luxury footwear require a trade-off — aesthetic compromise, reduced performance, or inflated cost. TecneGreen solves all three. It is a polyurethane material derived from recovered textile and plastic waste, used as a filler in our soles and footbeds.

01

Invisible by Design

TecneGreen is used as an interior filler within TPU and rubber soles — not on the surface. There is no aesthetic impact on the finished product. The luxury standard is maintained in full.

02

Uncompromised Performance

This process is carried out exclusively through a mechanical rather than a chemical process — transforming waste into a tangible resource without physical, mechanical or chemical stress to the material. Durability, flexibility and integrity remain exactly as specified.

03

True Circularity

Rather than generating new waste to create a "sustainable" product, TecneGreen recovers existing textile and plastic by-products — eliminating what would have gone to landfill entirely.

The Process

A Closed Loop

Every by-product from our production is returned to the process. Nothing leaves our supply chain as waste.

Zero to Landfill

Full Transparency

Every Pair.
Every Step. Traceable.

Each pair of shoes comes embedded with a digital tracking chip, accessible directly from the customer's smartphone. This tool allows customers to trace the product's origin and its entire manufacturing process — offering full transparency and visibility into every stage of the product's journey.

From raw material sourcing to TecneGreen sole integration, the supply chain becomes legible — not as a marketing claim, but as a verifiable record.

Scan & Trace

Tap the chip with any smartphone to access the product's full origin story — materials, factory, and process.

End-of-Life Return

When a pair reaches the end of its life, customers can return it to Brett Johnson. The shoes are then recycled and incorporated into new production — closing the loop in full.

Measured Impact

The Numbers

Sustainability must be measurable. These are not targets — they are figures from our current production, based on TecneGreen integration across our footwear range.

8T
From the sole — per year

Each cupsole contains 30–40g of TecneGreen recycled PU. At 1,000 pairs per day, that is 8 tonnes of textile waste diverted from landfill annually.

6T
From the footbed — per year

The vacuum-packed TecneGreen footbed adds a further 20–30g per pair. At the same production rate, 6 more tonnes of textile waste are recovered every year.

40k
T-shirts saved from landfill (sole)

The sole alone prevents the equivalent of 40,000 garments from landfill each year — before accounting for the footbed contribution.

30k
Uppers saved from landfill (footbed)

The footbed prevents the equivalent of 30,000 pairs of 200g uppers from landfill per year. Two components. One closed loop.

What Goes Into Every Sole

Two TecneGreen components work in tandem — the cupsole and the vacuum-packed footbed. Each has been independently formulated to maximise recycled content without compromise to performance.

Our Commitment

The Most Sustainable Shoe
Brett Johnson Has Ever Made.

The cassette sole represents a first, measurable step in a longer commitment to circularity across every component of Brett Johnson. From the recycled textile filler to the digital tracking chip and the end-of-life return programme, this is responsibility made tangible — held to the same standard as the clothes themselves.
